Everything you need to progress from Trainee to Rank 4 and unlock your first devil contract.

Quick Start Checklist

Choose Human + Katana for easiest start

Character Creation

New Player
  • Choose Human (Devil Hunter) or Fiend
  • Human: Pick starter weapon (Katana recommended)
  • Fiend: Start with Fists (no choice)
  • Complete NPC tutorial for Style Points
TIP: Humans can craft weapons later. Fiends consume Devil Flesh for power.

Trainee Hunter

Rank 0
  • Start missions from Division 1, 2, or 5
  • Focus on "Cleanup Duty" missions (easiest)
  • Fill 5 stars to unlock Rank Up mission
  • Learn to Parry - essential for survival
TIP: Avoid Division 3 (PvP). Buy Skateboard (7.6k) for fast travel.

Rising Hunter

Rank 1-3
  • Complete Rank Up missions as stars fill
  • Grind attribute XP through combat/parrying
  • Collect Devil Flesh materials
  • Human: Visit Division 2 for weapon crafting
TIP: Each star grants stat points. Allocate in Info menu immediately.

Contract Ready

Rank 4
  • Reach Rank 4 (major milestone)
  • Collect 30 Eyes material
  • Visit Floor 0 in HQ for contracts
  • Sign Future Devil contract (strongest)
TIP: Future Devil has 30% HP penalty on failed counter. Stay above 30% HP!

Starter Weapon Guide (Humans Only)

Katana

Medium Weapon

Best for beginners. Balanced speed and damage.

Broad Axe

Heavy Weapon

High damage, slow attacks. Good for PvE.

Gun

Gun

Safe ranged option. Good for kiting.

Kitchen Knife

Light Weapon

Fast attacks, lower damage. Combo-focused.

* Fiends start with Fists only and cannot change until they unlock Fiend abilities.

Essential Tips

Master Parrying

Parrying is THE core mechanic. It blocks damage, grants attribute XP, and is essential for PvP survival.

Spend Stat Points Immediately

When you earn stars, allocate stat points right away in the Info menu. Don't hoard them.

Expect Invasions

Other players can invade during missions. Keep HP high and be ready to fight or flee.

Buy Skateboard Early

Costs 7.6k but is the fastest travel method. Press H to use. Essential for mission efficiency.

Future Devil Contract Warning

The Future Devil contract is the strongest but has a severe penalty: failing a counter costs 30% of your MAX HP.

Always keep your HP above 30% when using this contract, especially during PvP invasions. Use our Future Devil Risk Calculator to check if you can survive a failed counter.
